4 out of 10 and 4 out of 5

Being a starwood preferred guest (SPG) can have it’s upsides, so I guess I shouldn’t really complain too much. We stayed 2 nights for free (used points) at Four points by Sheraton in Houston (Southwest) and it was fine I guess, beds were comfortable but other than that it was very basic. We then moved on to the Fourpoints by Sheraton in Miami Beach and well, what a difference. I realise that the hotels are going to look different in different locations but the difference was like night and day. It was 4/10 vs 4/5. There was a little problem at the Houston hotel, which wasn’t the hotel’s fault but could have been handled much better by the staff. On the last morning from 7am in the morning there was hardly any water pressure (the shower trickled) and there was no hot water. We only heard when we checked out that a water main had been struck near by. And while we were understanding we had been waiting for an hour for an update on the situation from reception (they never called back). All they needed to do was slide a note under the door to warn people, because we met other disgruntled customers in the elevator.

So go four points out of five Miami! A real 4 star hotel.
